An author simulacrum is a character who is an explicit stand-in for the author who created the character. In the world of Spore role-playing, such characters are omnipresent, and nearly every Spore user belonging to the role-playing community utilizes one. Often, author simulacrums and the character's corresponding author share a single name, but this is not always the case. A character is denotatively an author simulacrum if the character is referred to with a first-person pronoun outside of a role-play or if the author refers to his or herself and the character interchangeably.
